This story had too much going on and too many characters that were presented as major elements of the story. Unfortunately, everyone can't have a complete character portrait in such a short book. The result is an incomplete sketch of all: the hero with his family issues, the heroine with her previous history of sacrifice, her sister and his half-brother, whose relationship was the fulcrum for the story. We were told a lot about these folks, but shown very little.Another problem I had was the motivation for these characters. The whole premise was just too shallow SPOILER: The big brother H is an impediment to his half-brother's marriage, but the two men don't know each other well enough to talk about some of the issues they are supposed to have about a contested inheritance? If their relationship is so distant and tenuous, why would it matter to his half-brother if he didn't approve the marriage? All of that got in my way. I kept waiting for that moment when the story turned a corner and became plausible (by Harlequin standards) an dit never happened. It just ...ended.

It was an ok read but until the heroine just had to got back "to fight for man". Arrrrrh. I hate it when the heroine crawls back. I don't care that she did it in a dignified way. She still made the first move! Pathetic. If that's what she wanted why leave in the first place? The author should have spent more time on the ending.

I really enjoyed this book. The Characters were great and the story line was good. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it.

Georgina and Santos... The story had potential but I never cared or bought their love.I don't understand how this received a single five star review, let alone two.Spoilers ahead. The the younger brother Carlos and sister Emma of characters are in love and want to marry but Carlos' brother Santos forbids it. Emma's older sister, Georgina believes that the younger siblings are deeply in love and wants them to have the freedom to marry. Apparently the father of the brothers wrote a silly clause in his will that stipulates the first son to marry and produce an heir inherits the company. The ages of the younger couple is not clearly stated but they are old enough to marry. It is mentioned that the brothers have a strained relationship so can't really believe that the young couple would not marry with or without his consent.Georgina desperately wants her sisters happiness and offers to marry the H in name only, she is not aware of the fact that a heir is required. Santos agrees to the marriage but claims it will be a "real" marriage. Secretly he has his lawyers working on discrediting the will but decides its good. To have a backup plan. He doesn't reveal the clause about an heir. She doesn't want her sister to know that she's sacrificing herself, they agree to pretend to be swept away and infatuated with each other. The story seems to evolve in the short space of a week or so. They go through motions of a marriage and brief honeymoon. Where they both develop strong passions for each other, she believes she now nearly instantly loves him. And he feels confused by his feelings for her. They argue and while mad at each other discover that the siblings have eloped. Each of them feels betrayed by their siblings. Also Santos receives a letter where his brother releases his claim on the business. She finds it and believes that he knew all alongFor some reason I just couldn't connect to this story or more importantly the characters. I'm am usually willing to suspend disbelief at the circumstances used in HP's as a catalyst to throw a couple together. This time I wasn't convinced. The reactions to the siblings elopement also felt wrong to me. Georgina feels betrayed and deceived by her sister Emma. How has she betrayed you? She didn't ask you to interfere or offer yourself up as a sacrificial lamb.Santos feels like he was tricked into marriage by h and the younger couple as well. Yet he has deceived both his sibling and his bride.Wish that the backstories of Georgina and Santos had been fleshed out more, perhaps I could have cared more. Couldn't care about this couple found myself skimming the pages and thinking why do I continue to read this. Please if you buy this book, take the time to review it. I'm eager to know if you enjoyed it or if you struggled to get through it. Perhaps you will be able to better describe why it was difficult to complete.

I really enjoyed this book. Both characters had been let down early in their life and wanted to be totally in control and had not factored in falling in love.

This was a rather poor example of the marriage to save a sister theme. Not really worth your time.

Implausible MOC between the self-sacrificing h and the inner-monologuing H.The h propositions the H for a MOC so he can get control of his father's corporation ahead of his half-brother (that Daddy loved best) who is in love with the h's sister. The H has agreed to let the other two lovebirds marry if the h marries him.Conveniently ignoring the fact he is marrying the h in order to get his inheritance, the H inner monologues what a gold-digger the h is since this is her second MOC. That's actually skewing the MOC stats of HarleyLand. The h flirts, acts coy and girlish, Rachael Thomas' words not mine, to keep the H's mind off the other couple while he lusts after the woman who proposed the cold business deal. He neglects to tell her that in addition to the required marriage there is an heir requirements as well. Did she read the prenup? On top of that, despite the required insert tab into slot b, title emotional or sexual tension. More of tell than a show.It seemed like this book tried to be all things to all readers: the shut down H that was never loved enough, the abandoned h who's father left her, the nauseatingly sweet and helpless younger sister, not one but two MOC's, a relatively frigid/pseudo-virginal heroine, magical man parts, and so on and so forth. Did the Harlequin ghost editors give the author a list of tropes of the month that had to be met?
