it was helpful. We got more out of our trip as a result. I do think it does leave out some negatives that can be reported. The restaurants were described much better than they were....and the accommodations slightly better in general. Do more research besides what you find in the book. That being said, we discovered things we would not have. An antique shop in Palm Springs, a nice trail in Joshua Tree. Recommended
