This is a fantastic resource for teachers, tutors, and parents. It does a thorough job of outlining what the Florida Standards Assessment test is looking for from fourth grade English and language arts students, as well as explaining how to use the book itself and how to help your student improve their skills with the workbook.The questions themselves are clear, well-designed, and match the standards of Florida as well as many standardized tests. This makes it a valuable resource for any student who needs to gain confidence and familiarity with problem-solving and test-taking, in addition to building ELA skills. This book covers all the content a fourth grader needs to know and includes two full-length practice tests.There's a good variety of questions and formats in each standards category, and the detailed answer explanations make learning from incorrect answers simple. I've used a few books from this publisher now and I'll continue to do so. As a tutor, the tools they provide are invaluable.
This book is divided into three sections, Reading: Literature, Reading: Information and Language. The introduction and how to use this book section at the beginning are useful as is the test prep section. There's 2 practice tests and also a link to download an additional full-length practice test. The answers are thoroughly explained to help reinforce the concepts as well.
One part includes two passages for each standard, RL and RI. Then there is a cumulative practice test. I like both of those. The problem is with the answer keys, some of the letter choices and reasons don’t match (the letter is actually different than the answer key indicates).
There were many errors in the wording and directions.
I ordered this to use as a supplement for test preparation. I have found the text complexity and question format to be in line with FSA, however, there are SEVERAL errors within the passages, incorrect answers in the answer key, and pages in the table of contents that do not correspond to where that lesson is in the book. Overall, I have found it useful, but someone definitely dropped the ball when it came to quality control.
